Five things we love about the LG V50 ThinQ

28 May 2019

The new LG V50 ThinQ is one of the first phones to offer 5G connectivity on our new 5G network. But it’s packed with plenty of other impressive features too. Here’s five of our favourites:

It’s one of the first smartphones to feature 5G

Okay, so the LG V50 ThinQ’s headline-grabbing feature is its 5G functionality, but for good reason. If you’ve got 5G coverage, the LG V50 ThinQ will let you download films and TV shows in seconds rather than minutes, browse the web more reliably in busy areas and at peak times, and connect you to the content you love most almost instantly, whether you’re launching an app or opening up your favourite game.

With 5G, everything feels faster and slicker – from greater mixed-reality gaming experiences to more reliable music streaming.

It comes with a detachable Dual Screen

If gaming and multi-tasking are two of your main priorities when looking for a new phone, the LG V50 ThinQ could be the phone for you.

It comes complete with a clever detachable Dual Screen which not only acts as a protective cover and kickstand, but as an extra 6.4-inch OLED display that gives you more space to view all your content – turning the LG V50 ThinQ into a foldable phone. And it can be removed whenever you only need a single screen.

It’s made for multi-tasking

Attaching the Dual Screen will enable you to watch YouTube videos on one display while writing an email on the other, or to book a flight online while referencing your calendar at the same time.

You can easily switch content from one display to the other, use one screen as a dedicated keyboard for easier typing, and capture images on one display before sharing them on the other via text message or social sites. It’ll make multi-tasking much more manageable.

It’s great for gaming

The Dual Screen gives you a real competitive edge when you’re gaming too. With the LG Game Pad app, you can turn one of your screens into a dedicated gaming controller, while the other display focuses fully on the game at hand. No more fiddly button presses or tricky controls – and hopefully more victories over your opponents.

What’s more, the built-in advanced cooling pipe keeps your phone free from excess heat when you’re putting it through its paces, whether streaming high-res content over 5G or playing the latest video game. The overall heat is reduced by 40%, so everything feels cool and looks smooth.

Record vivid videos and take great photos

With five cameras on board, the LG V50 ThinQ covers your photography needs from every angle. And with the phone’s Penta Shot mode you can snap five photos with one press of the shutter button.

Penta Shot uses the phone’s three rear cameras (16MP wide, 12MP main and 12MP telephoto lenses) and the two front cameras (8MP main and 5MP wide lenses) to capture five individual shots that can be conveniently stored in a collage format. And with the Dual Screen attached, you can preview images from the main camera, wide-angle lens and telephoto lens on a separate screen.

Video recordings will look just as impressive too, with HDR10 on board to brighten up your mini-masterpieces, as well as display more life-like colours and capture dark areas more clearly.

Feeling creative? Now you can add naturally looking blurred backgrounds to your videos as well as your photos and broadcast must-see moments live to YouTube straight from your phone.
