Huawei have just unveiled their latest smartphones at an event in Paris. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are available to Buy now.
We’re super-excited to get our hands on these phones. Last year’s Huawei P20 phones were some of the year’s most impressive releases, with incredible camera features and cutting-technology packed in. This year’s devices look even better.
Cameras take centre stage
The Huawei P Series has always focused heavily on photography, pushing the boundaries and breaking barriers of what you can achieve with your smartphone’s camera.
The Leica lenses and built-in photo-enhancing technology on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro help you take stunning photos from all angles and in different settings.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro have one of the highest pixel-counts on any smartphone – a staggering 40MP main lens – which is ideal if you plan to enlarge and print out your photos, though for everyday photography you can scale down the number of pixels in the settings.
The Huawei P30 Pro features a Leica Quad Camera, while the P30 has a Leica Triple Camera system. The main difference between the two is that the Pro model features a Huawei TOF camera that uses 3D technology to produce stunning multi-level bokeh-effect photos and accurately measure the height, length, area and volume of objects through your screen – which could be useful when you’re shopping for furniture and new home décor.
The P30 Pro also has a slightly more detailed wide-angle lens (20MP compared to 16MP) and a stronger zoom on the
8MP telephoto lens (5x optical versus 3x optical). The ultra-wide-angle lens can capture epic cinematic shots, landscapes and city images, and focus in on stunning levels of detail from just 2.5cm away – making it the lens of choice for close-up photos of flowers and animals.
The telephoto lens’s 5x/3x optical zoom means shots from far away still retain their quality even when fully zoomed in. If you want to get really close to your subject, there’s a hybrid zoom and digital zoom on board too. The P30 Pro’s 50x digital zoom means no detail is out of reach.
And both phones feature Huawei’s new SuperSpectrum Sensor, which enables them to take incredible low-light photos. The sensor lets in more light without washing out the photo or creating blur, so night shots look every bit as impressive as the photos you take during the day. The SuperSpectrum Sensor doesn’t just boost your photos, either. Your videos are exposed to more light too, letting you record much greater detail even when you’re in a dark indoor environment.
Optimised Image Stabilisation and advanced shutter speed control built in to the camera also helps you to take stunning images that appear to freeze time. With the P30 and P30 Pro, you don’t need a tripod to take breathtaking long-exposure shots. You can capture striking shots of flowing water, for example, that will stop Instagram scroller in their tracks – all thanks to the P30 or P30 Pro.
A dream of a display
The Huawei P30 Pro features a 6.47-inch display, while the P30 measures in at 6.1 inches. Both displays have an OLED screen, so blacks are deep and detailed, and colour is rich and vivid.
And there’s very little to get in the way of your content – barely any bezels and no on-screen buttons – just a small and stylish dewdrop opening at the top of the display that houses the 32MP front-facing camera for amazingly detailed selfies.
Convenient controls and fast features
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro benefit from many of the same features that made Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro one of last year’s most innovative phones.
There’s a fingerprint scanner built in to the screen, so you can quickly and securely unlock your device without fiddling around the back or entering a PIN.
You can boost the battery on a compatible phone simply by placing your P30 Pro against it – no wires or charger required. The batteries in both phones are powerful enough to get through a day of web browsing, photo taking, video watching and social sharing. But if your phone does need a quick charge, Huawei SuperCharge means you’re not waiting around for too long – the P30 Pro takes your phone from 0% to 70% battery power in just 30 minutes.
Artificial Intelligence is at the heart of the new P Series phones, with a host of handy new features on board. HiVision lets you quickly pull up information on objects and items online simply by pointing your camera at them, so it’s great for holidays, sightseeing trips and window shopping.
And HiTouch is there specifically for your shopping needs. Simply touch an item you like the look of on your screen and AI will get to work to find you the best deals online.
If you’re out and about shopping, especially if you’re looking for furniture or home decorations, then the Huawei TOF Camera on the P30 Pro will help you measure height, length, area and volume, so you can accurately determine where products will fit in your home. And you can leave your tape measure at home.
And finally, if you own a compatible Huawei Matebook laptop, you can share content between your P30 or P30 Pro via a quick tap – built-in NFC transfers files up to 100x faster than Bluetooth.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro have done it again and are sure to be two of this year’s most impressive smartphones.
