OnePlus 7 vs OnePlus 7 Pro 5G - a comparison

31st October 2019

Apart from the obvious 5G compatibility offered by the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, what is the difference between the two models we sell? Does one have a better display than the other, faster charging, a better camera or longer battery life? Here we take a look at both models, so you can decide which one is the right choice for you.

What is the display like on the OnePlus 7 compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G?

The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G offers an extremely responsive experience thanks to its Fluid AMOLED display. Animation is smooth and colours are vibrant, so it’s perfect for watching your favourite TV series or playing games in all their glory. And while the OnePlus 7 doesn’t have the same Fluid AMOLED display, it’s still a sight to behold, encased in protective Gorilla Glass 6 and framed with graceful curves.

What about the camera?

The OnePlus 7 boasts a powerful dual-lens camera, with a rear 48 MP camera and front 18 MP camera that uses UltraShot imaging technology. It’s far superior to the cameras on many other similar priced smartphones. The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G takes it even further, with a triple camera that lets you capture the perfect image while adapting to your location and time of day. And don’t forget that on 5G it will be easier to share photos and videos when you’re in places such as a busy stadium or train station.

How is the battery life and how quickly does it charge?

Both models have a relatively similar battery – the OnePlus 7 has 3700 mAh and the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G has 4000 mAh. So, they should both see you through a day of calling, messaging, browsing and photo-taking relatively easily. But if you’re sometimes pushed for time when it comes to charging your phone, the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G has a useful feature called Warp Charging. This promises blisteringly fast charging of up to 50% in just 20 minutes, and a full charge in under an hour.

What is the difference in size and weight?

If you prefer to go for a larger screen, the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G just about has it in the bag with dimensions of 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8mm compared to the OnePlus 7’s 157.7 x 74.8 x 8.2 mm. But with that comes a bit more weight in your pocket, at 206g compared to 182g. So while things may be a bit larger on the screen of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, you may prefer to have a little less to carry around with you.

And the 5G compatibility?

Of course, if it’s 5G you’re looking for, there’s only one choice – the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. On our network you can experience a more reliable connection in the busiest places, speeds like you’ve never seen before and a near-instant connection. And it’s something of a legend, as it was the first ever 5G phone available in the UK.

Of course, for many it all comes down to cost. But we have some great deals whichever model you decide to go for. Take a look at what price plans we have available for the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G online now.
