Our favourite Twitter reactions to Google's Daydream View

27 April 2017

We’ve seen some pretty mind-blowing tech advances over the past few years – and as we continue torpedoing into the digital age, things don’t look like they’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

Here in the smartphone world, we've seen the landscape change dramatically in recent years, with the introduction of AI in particular making phones smarter, faster and easier to use than ever before. Not to mention the groundbreaking progress we’ve been making here at EE – as we continue to build a data network capable of powering all the new tech-led features.

Those of you with your finger on the pulse, though, will know that there’s one piece of modern tech that’s been raising heart rates all over the world: virtual reality. As one of the most eagerly-anticipated releases of recent years, VR has the potential to entirely change the way we create, consume and engage with entertainment – putting YOU at the heart of the story. You are Sherlock. You are Lara Croft. You are Frodo.

It changes everything.

So when Google launched its game-changing VR headset Daydream View, it’s fair to say the internet went pretty mental. With an intuitive hand-held controller – designed with in-built smart sensors that recognise your gestures and movements – Daydream View caused quite a stir as users flew through space for the first time, explored new worlds, or just kicked back in their very own VR cinema.

From all corners of the globe, people flooded social media to tell the world just how utterly blown away they were. Twitter, these are your best reactions…

Minds were definitely being blown...

When it came to VR films and TV, very little time was wasted...

Long-haul flights will never be the same again...

For others it was all about the gaming...

Dan knew precisely what he wanted for Christmas…

It all got a bit real at times…

Even teachers were getting excited!
