5G in 2019 is about the best mobile experience you’ve ever had. It’s an additional layer of our network. It doesn’t replace 4G or WiFi – it adds to them. But you will need a 5G-capable device to enjoy its benefits.
The first 5G smartphones will be available this summer, and EE will be the first operator in the world to bring its customers the OnePlus 5G smartphone. Samsung will also be launching their Galaxy S10 5G device in 2019.
It’s also worth remembering that 5G is being built in the busiest parts of the busiest cities. EE is upgrading to 5G where it can make the biggest difference to the most people. We’re switching on 5G sites in 16 UK cities this year, the UK’s four capital cities – London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast – as well as Birmingham and Manchester. As well as the six launch cities, through 2019 EE will also be introducing 5G across the busiest parts of ten more UK cities: Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Bristol.
Our aim is to build one smart network. As well as building 5G, we’ll continue to roll out 4G in more and more previously unconnected parts of the UK to keep our customers connected wherever they are. To be the first to hear about 5G and the latest devices on EE, register your interest now.
